If you live in a village and do not yet have a pucca house, the word you will hear from your Gram Panchayat is Awaas Plus (आवास प्लस). It is not a separate scheme. It is the survey that adds new households to the waiting list of Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G). PMAY-G has no open online application form. A family enters the list only through the SECC 2011 data, the Awaas+ 2018 survey, or the newer Awaas+ 2024 survey, and then through Gram Sabha verification.
This guide is written by an independent information site. We are not connected to the Ministry of Rural Development and we do not run any survey or app. Facts below come from Parliament answers, PIB documents, the Google Play listing and news reports, with dates.
Awaas+ 2018 and Awaas+ 2024: what changed
There have been two Awaas+ rounds. The first filled gaps left by the SECC 2011 list. The second, run through a new app, uses relaxed exclusion rules approved for Phase 2 of PMAY-G (2024-25 to 2028-29).
| Point | Awaas+ 2018 | Awaas+ 2024 |
|---|---|---|
| Survey period | January 2018 to March 2019 (as reported by The Wire) | Started after the app launch on 17 September 2024; national deadline extended several times in 2025 |
| Used for | Targets from 2020-21 (CAG Report No. 8 of 2025) | The 2 crore additional houses approved on 9 August 2024 |
| Identity check | Not described in our sources | Aadhaar e-KYC with face authentication and liveness detection |
| Who surveys | Officials | Pre-registered surveyors, or the household itself through self-survey |
| Exclusion rules | Older rules | Revised rules issued 14 August 2024 (income limit raised to Rs 15,000 a month) |
According to a Lok Sabha reply of 12 August 2025, the SECC 2011 and Awaas+ 2018 lists were already saturated in all States and UTs except Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Karnataka. That is why Awaas+ 2024 matters: in most states, it is now the only route for a household that was missed earlier.
Who can be surveyed under Awaas Plus
The survey targets households that are houseless or live in 0, 1 or 2 room houses with kutcha walls and kutcha roof (Lok Sabha reply, 17 December 2024). For Phase 2 the Ministry relaxed the automatic exclusion rules on 14 August 2024:
- Owning a mechanised two-wheeler, a mechanised fishing boat, a landline phone or a refrigerator no longer excludes a family.
- The monthly income limit was raised from Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000.
- Land-related criteria were simplified.
As reported by Business Today and PTI, exclusions that remain include a motorised three or four-wheeler, mechanised farm equipment of that kind, a Kisan Credit Card limit of Rs 50,000 or more, a government employee in the household, a household member paying income tax or professional tax, monthly income above Rs 15,000, and 2.5 acres or more of irrigated land. The full official list was not available on a page we could read, so ask your Gram Panchayat or block office for the version your state uses. Our PMAY eligibility guide covers the rules in more detail.
How the Awaas+ 2024 survey works, step by step
The Lok Sabha reply of 5 August 2025 lists the main app features: self-survey, assisted survey by pre-registered surveyors, housing typology selection, geo-tagged and time-stamped photos, and both online and offline modes. A typical self-survey looks like this:
- Check with your Gram Panchayat that the survey window is open in your state. The app cannot add you when the window is closed.
- Install AwaasPlus 2024 only from Google Play. The genuine listing shows developer Department of Rural Development and package id r.rural.awaasplus_2_0.
- Choose self-survey, or ask the Gram Panchayat or a registered surveyor for an assisted survey. As reported by PTI, only one self-survey is allowed per phone.
- Complete Aadhaar e-KYC. The app captures your live face and checks for eye blink or movement.
- Enter household details and take geo-tagged photos of your present house and the proposed site.
- Submit. The list then goes to the Gram Sabha for verification, and complaints move through Gram Panchayat, block and district levels.
Screens and button names change after app updates (the Play Store listing was last updated on 18 September 2026). If a screen looks different, look for the self-survey or e-KYC option, or ask the panchayat secretary to help. Many guides say the separate UIDAI face app is also needed for face authentication; this is commonly listed online but we could not confirm it on an official page.
Is the Awaas Plus survey open in 2026?
Honest answer: it depends on your state, and we could not find a national status for October 2026. Here is what the records show:
- On 27 December 2024 the Ministry asked all states to finish the survey by 31 March 2025 (as reported by The Tribune).
- The deadline was then extended to 30 April 2025, to 15 May 2025, and, according to Kashmir Life, to 31 May 2025 and later 18 June 2025 on Jammu and Kashmir’s request.
- For West Bengal, news agency ANI reported on 14 July 2026 that the beneficiary list deadline was extended from 20 July to 15 August 2026. See our Bangla Awas Yojana page.
National totals of households surveyed under Awaas+ 2024 were not published in any official source we found. Before you travel or pay anyone, ask the Gram Panchayat secretary or Block Development Officer whether a survey window is open now.
Awas Plus list: how to follow your name after the survey
Being surveyed is not the same as being sanctioned. After the survey, the priority list is verified by the Gram Sabha and published, and the district finalises the Permanent Wait List (CAG Report No. 8 of 2025). Houses are then sanctioned against the yearly targets of each state.
Once a house is sanctioned, the name shows up in the village-wise PMAY-G beneficiary report on the reporting portal at rhreporting.nic.in, usually under Social Audit Reports, “Beneficiary details for verification”. Our gramin list guide walks through those filters. If you already have a registration number, use the PMAY status check steps instead.
Several third-party guides in September and October 2026 report that the PMAY-G portal is moving to a new address on pmayg.dord.gov.in. We could not load or confirm this, so if the old address does not open, search for the Ministry of Rural Development’s PMAY-G report page and check that the address ends in gov.in or nic.in.
Awaas app login: self login vs official login
The Google Play listing says the app now has an “eKYC option in self and all official logins”. In plain words, there are two kinds of users. A household doing a self-survey uses the self option with its own Aadhaar face check. Surveyors and officials use their own registered logins. Officials also use AwaasApp to upload geo-tagged photos of each construction stage to AwaasSoft before installments are released. There is no separate citizen account that shows money or sanction status inside the survey app, as far as official sources describe. For the different PMAY logins, see our PMAY login guide.
Safety: fake Awas apps and paid agents
The Bhopal Crime Branch warned in November 2025 that fraudsters send fake APK files on WhatsApp promising PM Awas Yojana or PM Kisan money, and that one tap can hand over your phone and bank account. Keep these rules:
- Install the survey app only from Google Play. Never install an app sent as a file.
- The survey and inclusion in the list are free. Nobody can sell you a place on the list. Selection is by survey and Gram Sabha verification.
- Never share an OTP, Aadhaar number or bank details with an unknown caller. Beware of fake approval letters and fake websites.
- This site never asks for your Aadhaar, registration number or any personal data.
Report cyber fraud on the national cyber helpline 1930. For PMAY-G complaints, use the Gram Panchayat, block or district grievance officer, or CPGRAMS at pgportal.gov.in. More numbers are on our PMAY helpline page.
Frequently asked questions
What is Awas Plus 2024?
Awaas+ 2024 is the survey, done through the AwaasPlus 2024 mobile app launched on 17 September 2024, to identify additional rural households for PMAY-Gramin Phase 2. It uses Aadhaar face authentication, geo-tagged photos and revised exclusion rules. It is a survey, not a direct application, and the list is verified by the Gram Sabha.
How do I download the Awaas Plus app?
Download it only from Google Play. The genuine listing is named AwaasPlus 2024, published by the Department of Rural Development, with package id r.rural.awaasplus_2_0. Do not install any APK file shared on WhatsApp or another website, because police have warned that such files can steal bank details.
Can I do the Awas Plus self survey from my own phone?
Yes, the app offers a self-survey option when the survey window is open in your state. You complete Aadhaar e-KYC with a live face check and enter household details and photos. As reported by PTI, only one self-survey is allowed per phone, so families cannot share one handset for several surveys.
How can I see the Awas Plus survey list?
After the survey, the Gram Sabha verifies the priority list and it is published at the panchayat level. Once houses are sanctioned, names appear in the village-wise PMAY-G beneficiary report on the reporting portal. Ask your Gram Panchayat secretary for the verified survey list if your name has not yet been sanctioned.
What is the last date of the Awas Plus survey?
There is no single national date for 2026 in official sources we found. The 2025 national deadline moved from 31 March to 30 April, 15 May and later, as reported in news. West Bengal's list deadline was extended to 15 August 2026, as reported by ANI. Ask your block office for your state's current window.
Is there any fee for the Awaas Plus survey?
No fee is needed to be surveyed or to be selected. Selection is through the survey, Gram Sabha verification and the district wait list, and money is paid only by DBT into the beneficiary's own Aadhaar-linked account. Anyone asking for money to add your name is a red flag; report them to the block office or police.
