West Bengal PMAY-G: the official figures

According to Lok Sabha replies of 4 February 2025 and 12 August 2025:

The same August 2025 reply says the SECC 2011 and Awaas+ 2018 lists were saturated in every state except Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Karnataka. In other words, West Bengal still had eligible households on its earlier lists who had not been covered. About 11.5 lakh sanctioned houses had not been completed by August 2025.

Timeline: from PMAY-G to Banglar Bari and back

All entries below are as reported in the news, not official orders we have read.

• From FY 2022-23: central PMAY-G funds to West Bengal were withheld after inquiries by a National Level Monitor and senior officers (Organiser, 21 August 2026).
• 17 December 2024: the then Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, launched Banglar Bari, a state-funded scheme, and released a first installment of Rs 60,000 each to 12 lakh beneficiaries, out of Rs 1.2 lakh per house. She said the Centre had not paid Awas funds for about three years (Business Standard).
• 20 May 2025: the second installment was announced as credited. The state said it had spent Rs 14,400 crore, and that 16 lakh more families would get installments from December 2025 (PTI via The Week).
• 9 May 2026: Suvendu Adhikari was sworn in as Chief Minister (The Statesman).
• 14 July 2026: Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan approved 1 lakh PMAY houses for West Bengal on an interim basis, before list verification, and the beneficiary list deadline was extended from 20 July to 15 August 2026 (ANI; Organiser).

We could not find any report on what happens to Banglar Bari under the new state government, or whether central PMAY-G funds have fully resumed beyond the 1 lakh interim approval. If you were a Banglar Bari beneficiary, ask your Gram Panchayat or BDO office about pending installments.

How to check the Bangla awas yojana list (PMAY-G)

For PMAY-G names, use the national reporting portal. These steps come from third-party guides (Housing.com, February 2024; sarkariyojana.com, October 2026), and menus may differ.

1. Open rhreporting.nic.in and look for the Report menu.
2. Under Social Audit Reports, choose "Beneficiary details for verification".
3. Select State: West Bengal, then District, Block and Gram Panchayat.
4. Choose the Financial Year and Scheme: Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana Gramin.
5. Fill the captcha and click Submit.
6. Look for your name, registration number, sanction number, installments paid and house status.

New 2026 sanctions may take time to appear, because the July 2026 approval was made before list verification. Older names from earlier years appear under those years. If you have a registration number, see PMAY status check; for every filter explained, see the gramin list guide.

Banglar Bari list and status check

Banglar Bari is a state-funded scheme, so its names are not part of the PMAY-G report. Our fact sheets do not include an official Banglar Bari portal, app or list page, so we cannot point you to one. If you come across a website offering a Banglar Bari status check, make sure it is an official West Bengal government site ending in gov.in, or simply ask at your BDO office. Do not trust any "Banglar Bari list" file shared on WhatsApp.

West Bengal survey and how new names are added

There is no open online application form for PMAY-G in any state. New households are added through the Awaas+ survey and verified by the Gram Sabha, with complaints going to the Gram Panchayat, block and district. As reported by ANI on 14 July 2026, West Bengal's beneficiary list deadline was extended to 15 August 2026. We did not find a report on whether the survey reopened after that date, so ask your Gram Panchayat. The official survey app is AwaasPlus 2024 on Google Play. Money, complaints and safety

PMAY-G gives Rs 1,20,000 per house in plain areas, paid by DBT to the beneficiary's Aadhaar-linked account in installments set by the state. Grievance officers at Gram Panchayat, block, district and state levels should dispose of complaints within 15 days, according to Lok Sabha replies. You can also file on CPGRAMS at pgportal.gov.in.

• No one can sell a place on the list. Selection is by survey and Gram Sabha verification.
• Never share OTP, Aadhaar or bank details with unknown callers, and do not install apps sent as files.
• Beware of fake websites, fake approval letters and agents who promise a house or money for a fee. Report cyber fraud on 1930.
