Every year lakhs of people search “PM Awas Yojana online apply” (पीएम आवास योजना ऑनलाइन आवेदन). The honest answer: PMAY Gramin and PMAY Urban work differently. PMAY stands for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. This website is an independent guide, not a government site, and we never collect applications or personal data. For a full overview of both schemes, start at our PMAY guide home.

Why there is no PMAY Gramin online apply form
Many websites say “apply online at pmayg.nic.in”. This is misleading. The PMAY-G portal has no open public online application form for new households. According to Parliament replies, rural beneficiaries are identified from the SECC 2011 based Permanent Wait List and the finalised Awaas+ (2018) survey list. Selection is checked in three stages: SECC 2011 data, Gram Sabha, and geo-tagging.
The Gram Sabha verifies the priority list, which is then published. Complaints about inclusion, deletion or rank go to the Gram Panchayat, block and district levels, and the district finalises the list.
New households can enter through the Awaas+ 2024 survey, launched on 17 September 2024, which uses Aadhaar-based face authentication. The survey window in 2025 was extended several times, as reported in the news, and timings vary by state. As of 14 October 2026, we found no confirmation that the survey is open nationally, so check with your Gram Panchayat. Details are on our Awaas Plus survey page.
How rural families get included: step by step
- Ask your Gram Panchayat secretary or block office whether the Awaas+ 2024 survey is open in your state right now.
- If it is open, install “AwaasPlus 2024” only from Google Play. The official listing is by the Department of Rural Development (package r.rural.awaasplus_2_0).
- Choose self-survey (only one self-survey per phone) or ask a registered surveyor or the Gram Panchayat for an assisted survey.
- Complete Aadhaar e-KYC with live face authentication.
- Enter household details, take geo-tagged photos of the current house and the proposed site, and submit.
- Attend the Gram Sabha when the list is read out. If your name is missing or wrongly ranked, complain at Gram Panchayat, block or district level.
App screens change with updates. If yours looks different, look for “Self Survey” or ask the panchayat. To see whether your name is already on the list, use our PM Awas Yojana Gramin list guide.
How urban families apply online for PMAY 2.0
In towns and cities, the process is a real online application on the official portal at pmaymis.gov.in/PMAYMIS2_2024:
- Look for “Apply for PMAY-U 2.0” and pick one vertical: BLC, AHP, ARH or ISS. It cannot be changed later.
- Pass the eligibility check: income up to Rs 9 lakh, no pucca house anywhere in India, no housing benefit in the last 20 years.
- Verify Aadhaar with an OTP, fill the Beneficiary Survey Form, upload documents and click Final Save.
- Print the acknowledgment with your Application ID.
You can also apply at a Common Service Centre or your Urban Local Body. Our full PMAY 2.0 apply online guide walks through every screen, upload size and common error.
Old years in searches: 2021, 2022, 2025 forms
People still search for “PM Awas Yojana online form 2021” or “2022-23 list”. Those years belong to earlier phases. For urban areas, PMAY-U 1.0 was extended only to finish already sanctioned houses, most recently up to 30 September 2026 according to PIB. New urban applications go to PMAY 2.0. For rural areas, the current phase runs from FY 2024-25 to 2028-29. Old forms and links are not used for new applications.
What PMAY registration means
“PMAY registration” means different things in each scheme. In PMAY Urban 2.0, it means the online application that creates an Application ID. In PMAY Gramin, households selected for a house are registered by officials on AwaasSoft, the scheme’s back-end system, which issues a unique PMAY-G ID with the sanction order. Rural citizens do not create this themselves. If someone offers to “register” you for a fee, it is a red flag.
Stay safe while applying
- No official fee is charged to be included in PMAY-G, and payments go only by DBT to the beneficiary’s Aadhaar-linked account.
- MoHUA has said no private person is authorised to collect money for PMAY Urban benefits.
- Police in Bhopal warned in November 2025, as reported, about fake APK links promising PM Awas money that can hack phones.
- Never share an OTP, Aadhaar or bank details with unknown callers.
